OK, so if you have been keeping up with my blogs I am sure you noticed I had a slight hiccup with my workout eating clean routine. Why did I share this? Because I want you to know that I also am still in the journey to live a better life. The reality is that we all are in this journey because the journey to self improvement in any area in life, is a journey with no finish line! We always have room to grow and be better. Whether it's in your weight loss journey, career journey, relationship journey. You can always be better. But anyways not to digress to much let me reel it back!
For those who are reading my blog for the first time, I was hard core at the gym 5-6 days a week a 3 am. On my eating clean mode (but still eating multiple meals). Regardless I was doing it and feeling great! I started training project at my job that just took over me. It took everything out of me. I will say this, it was a great lesson and I will not allow that type of project to consume my life like that again, but man it sure did take over. I went from being on top to eating Taco Bell drinking soda and having some ice cream. Every evening almost! It was either food or a glass of wine. LOL I'm not fond of hangovers, so I chose food! HA! I want you to laugh because this is LIFE. This happens to all of us for many different reasons but it's all the same principle. A life event that consumes all of you and leaves you with no energy for YOU! I decided I had to do something because although I can still fit in my clothes I started noticing a difference in the way my clothes felt on me before vs then.
Now fast forward, I have not really had the motivation to go to the gym, although I KNOW I need to be doing some squats! LOL However this is what I have been able to accomplish and get control of is my eating. I have been intermittent fasting for three weeks now. Also I have limited my meat intake to once a week, which would be my treat day/ non intermittent fasting day. Usually for me this is a Saturday or Sunday or heck maybe both. I don't want to feel like I'm miserable in my journey either! I started doing the 16/8 Intermittent fasting which is you have an 8 hour window when you eat and 16 hours of not eating. You do the bulk of your fasting while sleeping!
My schedule was I started eating at noon ended by 8. After a couple of days I shortened the window to 18/6 so I would eat from 12-6. After that I took a leap. I went straight into the OMAD fasting (One Meal A Day). And I will say that a lot of the information I've learned I can personally say is true. For example, our bodies get hungry around the time you are used to feeding it, even if you do not need to eat. I noticed when I first started fasting I would feel it more around the times I would have a morning cracker with my cafe or when I did routined eating like lunch time at work, and my hardest one the evening make me feel good after a long day at work snack. Now that I've been doing OMAD for a good two weeks (with weekend exemptions because we still gotta live) I can say that my body only gets hungry around lunch time, which is when I consume my one meal. Another interesting fact I learned and found to be true is how much rested you feel. Since your body is not spending all the energy it takes to digest food when it's time for me to go to bed, when I sleep now I am actually healing and fully resting and I feel it when I wake up!
Another great "side effect" while doing my OMAD fasting is how much more FOCUSED I am. I can see it at work, I'm way more productive and less easily distracted. It's amazing to really see how we get used to eating when we normally feed ourselves. - I go into this more on my latest eBook Mission Possible.
I'm also happy to report that I am leaning out TWICE as fast as I was when I was working out. NOW I do miss my lifting and do feel a difference from not lifting. So I'm very curious to incorporate some weights and fasting to see the results!
